Course Goal / Objective

Factors that negatively affect plant health are generally divided into two main groups: biotic (living) and abiotic (non-living). The aim of the course is to provide information about these factors.

Course Content

In this course, information will be given about the factors that negatively affect plant development in conventional agriculture.

Course Learning Outcomes

Order Course Learning Outcomes
LO01 Lists Abiotic (Living) and Biotic (Non-living) Factors
LO02 Explain Abiotic pests
LO03 Explain Biotic pests
LO04 In order to protect against abiotic and biotic pests, it is recommended to apply regular agricultural practices, biological and chemical control against diseases and pests, and appropriate irrigation and fertilization techniques.
LO05 Biotic Factors; Explains how pathogens such as bacteria, fungi, viruses and nematodes make plants sick
LO06 Insects from Biotic Factors: For example; Explains how pests such as aphids, whiteflies, spider mites, grasshoppers destroy the leaves, stems and roots of plants.
LO07 Explains how climate and environmental conditions cause damage from abiotic factors
LO08 From Biotic Factors to Weeds: Explains how weeds, which compete with plants for water, nutrients and light, cause yield loss.
