Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to provide information about food groups, maternal and child nutrition, to prepare appropriate menu samples, to take necessary precautions and to provide guidance about maternal and child health and diseases.

Course Content

Definition and importance of nutrition, nutrients, food groups, eating habits in children, nutrition at different time periods, food preparation, the importance of healthy nutrition during pregnancy and breastfeeding, nutrition of children with special conditions, and nutrition according to developmental periods. Recognizing a healthy child, taking preventive classroom measures for child health, collaborating with relevant personnel on child health, understanding the characteristics of a sick child, common complaints in children and collaboration with relevant personnel, diseases seen in children aged 0-12, vaccines, and serums.
