Course Goal / Objective

The aim of the course is to develop the critical thinking skills of the student who is exposed to the complex structure of the media, to teach the analysis methods necessary to interpret media contents and to provide information about critical writing methods suitable for media analysis. Thus, media literate students will be able to draw their own conclusions from various media platforms and critically analyze media productions even outside the classroom.

Course Content

Definition of media literacy, its scope, basic approaches and models, important contributing thinkers, exemplary country practices, basic principles, critical media literacy, the problem of representation in the media and the legal dimension.
