Course Goal / Objective
The aim of this course is to provide information about hatchery production of post larvae, hatchery design, techniques used in broodstock maturation and larval production, rearing of shrimp post-larvae in nursery culture and transportation techniques.
Course Content
Hatchery design and infrastructure, site selection, maintenance of production units, water intake and treatment systems, improvement of wastewater quality, prevention of diseases, use of chemicals, supply of broodstock, broodstock quality, improved broodstock (SPR/SPF), broodstock maturation, spawning, disinfection of eggs/naupli, larval culture techniques, water exchange protocols, water quality, larvae feeding and feeds, use of antibiotics and probiotics, post-larvae quality criteria, post-larvae selection and handling, post-larvae stocking, nursery, documentation and record keeping.
