Course Goal / Objective
To teach the importance and application areas of molecular methods used in the diagnosis and identification of viruses
Course Content
Viral infections and diagnostic methods, molecular biology basics, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) methods, sequence analysis and genome analysis, rapid diagnostic methods and clinical applications of diagnostic methods
Course Precondition
Basic microbiology knowledge is important to understand the structure, replication and pathogenesis of viruses. Having basic knowledge on topics such as DNA and RNA structure, gene expression. Basic knowledge on enzymes and biomolecules contributes to the understanding of molecular techniques.
