Course Goal / Objective

To educate students who are knowledgeable about the relationship between membrane transporters and pharmacological responses and/or adverse effects given to drugs, their structure and functions, the interaction of drugs with membranes, and the effective mechanisms during the passage of drugs into the cell.

Course Content

Cell membrane and its functions, Transport mechanisms, Transport proteins, Transport kinetics, Membrane transporters and adverse drug responses, Functional importance of membrane transporters in therapeutic drug response, relationship between membrane transporters and adverse drug responses. Membrane transport kinetics and mechanism, active and active transporters, Transporter superfamilies in the human genome
