Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to introduce the basic concepts, techniques, methods and tools of lean production system. In this way, students will learn how to increase productivity in production by learning lean production philosophy, basic principles of lean production, waste and its types, value stream mapping, OEE, continuous improvement, 5S, SMED, TPM, JIT, kanban etc. techniques.

Course Content

Course content; - Production and production types, - Classification of production systems, - Foundations of lean production thinking, - Definition of lean production, - Historical development, basic principles and characteristics of lean manufacturing, - Definition and types of waste, - Overall equipment efficiency (OEE) - Value stream mapping - Just-in-time production, - Kanban and pull system, - One piece flow, - Balanced production, - SMED (Mold Change in One Minute), - Workstation design, ergonomics, 5S - Continuous improvement
