Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to enable students to gain knowledge about the principles of epidemiology as a methodology in health research.

Course Content

Epidemiology course starts with the basic concepts that examine the distribution, causes and control methods of diseases in society. Descriptive, analytical and experimental epidemiology approaches are used to evaluate the incidence, risk factors and factors of diseases. Data collection methods, rates and statistical analyses used in epidemiologic researches are taught to examine health events scientifically. Monitoring of communicable and non-communicable diseases, evaluation of screening tests and public health interventions are among the main topics of the course. The importance of epidemiology in public health policies is emphasized with applications such as epidemic investigations, vaccination programs and preventive health services.
