Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to enable prospective mathematics teachers to develop research-based thinking skills, to identify a problem related to mathematics education, to plan a research process for this problem and to gain project writing skills. Students learn the processes of data collection, analysis, interpretation and reporting within the framework of scientific ethics at a basic level.

Course Content

This course aims to familiarize pre-service teachers with academic research processes in the field of mathematics education, to gain scientific project development skills and to prepare a project proposal in practice. Within the scope of the course, students learn how to identify a research problem, how to formulate a research question and sub-objectives, how to conduct a literature review and how to select data collection tools. In addition, project preparation, reporting and presentation processes are handled practically in line with ethical principles. During the course, each student (or group) develops his/her own project proposal, reports it in writing and makes an oral presentation.
