Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to analyze the exegetical dimensions of contemporary issues that started with modernity and came to the fore with Western influence.

Course Content

In this course, students will have the opportunity to learn the connection between the discussions that emerged in modernization and even postmodern times and the Quran. Because some concepts and phenomena that emerged with modernity have also affected the field of tafsir thanks to some names.

LO01 Modernism and postmodernism have created some questions and problems not only for the Western world but also for the Islamic world. In the contemporary period, there have been searches for solutions to these questions and problems on the axis of the Quran.
LO02 During the course, the issues brought to the agenda by contemporary paradigms such as feminism, humanism and positivism are discussed.
LO03 Students taking the course have the opportunity to learn the contents of solutions to the problems of the contemporary period within the framework of theses and antitheses.
LO04 With the idea and acceptance that Islam is a universal religion that does not only belong to a certain period, the existence of a background accumulation that can provide solutions to today's issues will be learned.
