Course Goal / Objective
The aim of this course is to provide information about the major literary debates that were effective in the formation of New Turkish literature from the Tanzimat to the National Literature period.
Course Content
The content of this course consists of the definition of polemic, the basic factors in its emergence, its place in the historical course of new Turkish literature, and various introductions, texts and sources, starting from the Tanzimat to the National Literature period, the remarkable Mes'ele-i Mebhûsetü'n Anhâ, the article Şiir ve İnşa, the old-new literature, Zemzeme-Demdeme, Abes-Muktebes, Hayaliyyun-Hakikiyyun, Dekadanlar, the Classics debate and Hüseyin Cahit Yalçın's literary discussions.
