Course Goal / Objective
To introduce the students to mine engineering topics. To inform them about underground, and overground mining, the excavation, transport, export, drainage and ventilation of the profession, period-safety operations, and major improvements.
Course Content
Importance, history and place of mining in society; Main duties and career options of mining engineer. Personal characteristics and skills required to be a successful mining engineer; Mining activity areas; Mining terms, mining operation methods; Open pit production methods, model display; Underground mine production methods, model representation; Preparation processes of the ores produced; Ore enrichment methods; Industrial raw materials and metallurgical processes; Mining studies in Turkey and in the World; Exported minerals; Production sites and properties of mines; Technical trip/virtual tour to an underground or opencast mine; Technical trip/virtual tour to an ore processing plant; Interview with an experienced Mining Engineer from the industry.
