Course Goal / Objective

To develop the thought process and discipline of the students to enable them to systematically solve problems regardless of difficulty, and help them develop confidence and competence in solving statics problems, o provide an introduction to the basic topics of dynamics and to examine the standart procedures for performing numerical calculations and present a general guide for solving problems.

Course Content

Mechanics and Statics; Introduction, Centroid of a plane area, Equilibrium of rigid bodies, truss and frame systems, Friction, Dynamic; Introduction and basic terms, Kinematics of particle and rigid bodies; linear and curvilinear motions, Kinetic; Dynamic equilibrium equations, principles of work and energy, spring and gravity forces and their potential energies, power and yield, principles of impulse and momentum.

LO11 Knows the issues and makes calculations of power and efficiency.
LO12 Understands the princip le of linear impulse and momentum for a particle and applies it to solve problems that involve force, velocity and time.
