Course Goal / Objective

This lesson; general map information, map types and basic features of maps, units of measurement, direction, scale, coordinates, location determination and section extraction in topographic maps, parts of the map and graphic design, basic cartographic signs and map reading, projections used in map drawing, measurements on the map, It aims to inform people about the use of GPS (Global Positioning System) and computer-aided applications, land regulation principles and elevation correction

Course Content

Definitions, features of maps, classification of maps, map types, map edge information and special signs, sheet division; map coordinate systems and projections, area and volume measurements, surface analysis, use and evaluation of topographic maps (contours, slope calculations, coordinate and distance measurement), elevation calculation and interpolation), geological maps and their types, sectioning from maps, digital maps, GPS (Global Positioning System), GIS (Geographic Information System).
