Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to teach students how to conduct both parametric and non-parametric hypothesis tests commonly used in psychology and to perform these analyses using a statistical software package. The course also aims to develop students’ ability to interpret, report, and ethically use statistical results.

Course Content

This course covers hypothesis testing, significance levels, effect size, statistical power, and Type I and Type II errors. Parametric tests include one-sample t-test, independent samples t-test, paired samples t-test, and one-way ANOVA (for both independent and repeated measures). Non-parametric tests include the Mann-Whitney U test, Wilcoxon signed-rank test, Kruskal-Wallis H test, Friedman test, and chi-square test. All statistical procedures are applied through statistical software with a focus on real data analysis.
