Course Goal / Objective
The aim of this course is to introduce contemporary theoretical approaches used in the counseling process and to enhance students’ theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Students are expected to understand the key concepts, intervention strategies, and ways of working with clients specific to each theory, and to evaluate which theoretical approach may be most effective in different counseling contexts.
Course Content
This course aims to introduce contemporary theoretical approaches in the field of psychological counseling. Approaches such as Cognitive Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Gestalt Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Self-Compassion-Based Therapy will be covered. The course explores the core principles, implications for the counseling process, and practical techniques of these approaches. The contribution of each theory to the change process in individuals will be evaluated through practical examples.
