Course Goal / Objective

The effects of climate change, which has undergone changes as a result of global warming, are harmful socially and economically. However, it causes loss of property and more importantly, loss of life. One of these damages is flood disaster. selle However, stream beds cannot carry excess water, causing floods. While this is the case, flood protection The main objective is to design and control structures.

Course Content

To prevent construction in the flood zone and to allow only certain activities, to temporarily remove the flood zone. draining or isolating, lowering the bed base by stream regulation, or reducing velocities in the section, Recover some of the flood waters with collection facilities such as flood-retardant ponds, flood traps and levees. to reduce peak flood currents by holding the floodgates of flood plains with the help of a bank, flood wall or a closed channel. Flood damages can be eliminated by measures such as keeping them in a certain flood plain.

Course Precondition

Soil mechanics, fluid mechanics, structural statics etc. at undergraduate level. basic engineering be successful in your studies

Resources

Soil mechanics, fluid mechanics, building statics lecture notes
