Course Goal / Objective
The aim of this course is to teach students vocational English terminology used in the field of Plant Protection, to help them understand these terms in environmental and agricultural contexts, facilitate their reading and comprehension of scientific articles, and develop their ability to communicate scientifically at an international level. Additionally, it is intended to enhance students’ English knowledge on pests, diseases, beneficial organisms, and control methods so that they can effectively use English sources related to biological control and integrated pest management. The course also aims to equip students with skills to prepare a resume (CV), write a statement of purpose, and draft letters of recommendation.
Course Content
This course aims to enhance the vocational English proficiency of Plant Protection students. Topics include English terminology related to agricultural pests, pathogens, weeds, and the chemical, biological, and integrated methods used against them. Students will develop skills in understanding scientific articles and summarizing academic texts. Applied content includes preparing posters in English, presentation techniques, and practicing presentations in scientific meetings. Practical guidance will also be provided for creating academic application documents such as CVs, statements of purpose, and reference letters.
