Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to teach and apply the effects of radiation on molecules and cells, cell survival curves, and the effects of divided dose-rate radiation.

Course Content

The physics and chemistry of radiation absorption, molecular mechanisms of DNA and chromosome damage and repair, cell survival curves, radiation sensitivity and cellular senescence in the mitotic cycle, split radiation and dose-rate effect, oxygen effect and oxygenation, radiation and cancer formation, hereditary effects of radiation, effects of radiation on embryos and fetuses, midterm exam, final exam, assignments.
