Course Goal / Objective
By the end of this course, students will: 1) Learn the basic concepts of radiopharmacy and radiopharmaceuticals. 2) Have knowledge of atomic structure, radioactivity, radioisotopes, and units of radioactivity. 3) Learn the preparation, quality control, sterilization processes, and labeling of radiopharmaceutical formulations. 4) Learn the application routes and uses of radiopharmaceuticals in medicine. 5) Have knowledge of the legal regulations related to radiopharmaceuticals. 6) Be able to use the knowledge and skills they have gained in the later stages of their education and in their professional lives.cals
Course Content
Radiopharmacy defines Pharmacy, Pharmacology, Drugs and general characteristics of drugs (routes of administration, pharmacokinetics, atom, radioactivity, radiation, uses of radioactivity, applications of radioactivity in healthcare, development of radiopharmacy, production, quality control and transportation of radiopharmaceuticals). Characteristics of radiopharmaceuticals used in diagnosis and treatment - Use of radiopharmaceuticals in treatment: General principles, Treatment of thyroid diseases, Use of radiopharmaceuticals in treatment: Treatment of bone pain, Use of radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic purposes: Central nervous system, Use of radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic purposes: Heart and lungs.
Course Precondition
Having knowledge in the fields of physics and biology.
