Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to enable students to understand fundamental biostatistical concepts used in health sciences, correctly interpret statistical analysis results, and acquire a foundation for statistical evaluation of scientific studies.

Course Content

This course covers fundamental concepts of biostatistics used in health sciences. Topics include data types and levels of measurement, descriptive statistics, probability concepts, probability distributions, sampling distributions, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, parametric and non-parametric tests, correlation and basic regression concepts, statistical significance, clinical significance, and interpretation of results in health sciences. Topics are presented using health-related examples.
