Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to enable students to statistically evaluate diagnostic tests, correctly interpret test performance measures, and make evidence-based, diagnosis-oriented decisions in healthcare settings.

Course Content

This course focuses on statistical approaches used in diagnostic decision-making in healthcare. Topics include evaluation of diagnostic tests, sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive values (PPV, NPV), likelihood ratios, pre-test and post-test probability, ROC curves and AUC, determination of cut-off values, interpretation of diagnostic accuracy, and diagnosis-based decision-making processes. Topics are illustrated using examples from clinical and field practice.

Course Precondition

No prerequisites. (Basic knowledge of biostatistics is recommended.)
