Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to enable students to acquire basic knowledge about the effects of exercise and physical activity on health, and to develop lifelong, sustainable, safe, and health-enhancing physical activity habits.

Course Content

Concepts of exercise and physical activity, their relationship with health, and their importance for quality of life, Sedentary lifestyle and the short- and long-term health effects of physical inactivity, Effects of physical activity on the cardiovascular system, metabolism, and immune system, Musculoskeletal health, posture, postural disorders, and their relationship with daily life, Basic exercise physiology: energy systems, cardiovascular endurance, and aerobic–anaerobic concepts, Cardiovascular exercises: types, intensity levels, and principles of safe practice, Strength exercises and bone health: basic principles and functional approaches, Flexibility, mobility, and joint health: stretching types and injury risk reduction, Balance, coordination, and proprioception and their effects on daily life and fall risk, Postural awareness, ergonomics, and proper body mechanics in activities of daily living, Breathing awareness, respiratory mechanics, and breathing exercises in stress management, Yoga: mind–body connection, basic principles, and health-oriented practices, Pilates: core stabilization, postural control, and functional movement approach, Lifelong physical activity: developing individual exercise habits and behavior change strategies
