Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to introduce narcotic and hallucinogenic plants and fungi in terms of their chemical constituents and pharmacological effects. It aims to provide an understanding of the toxicity, biological activities, and mechanisms of action of these natural substances. The ethnobotanical uses and pharmacognostic significance of these plants are also evaluated.

Course Content

It covers the fundamental characteristics of hallucinogenic and narcotic plants and toxic fungi, the examination of the chemical structures and pharmacological effects of examples such as peyote, cannabis, lysergic acid derivatives, and Amanita species, as well as the pharmacognostic evaluation of certain other toxic plants.
