Course Goal / Objective

The objective of this course is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the theoretical foundations and practical applications of 3D organoid systems. The course aims to cover the mechanisms of stem cell self-organization, bioengineering methodologies, and the critical role of these models in disease modeling and personalized medicine.

Course Content

The course content covers the history of cell culture, comparison of 2D and 3D systems, pluripotent and adult stem cell biology, extracellular matrix (ECM) interactions, biomaterials engineering, microfluidic systems (Organ-on-a-chip), tissue-specific organoid protocols (brain, gut, liver, etc.), advanced imaging and the other techniques.
