Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to provide students with the ability to plan, conduct, and report scientific research in accordance with ethical principles. The course aims to enhance students’ critical appraisal of scientific literature, research design skills, and awareness of research ethics.

Course Content

This course covers the fundamental principles of scientific research methodology and research ethics. Topics include formulation of scientific problems, hypothesis development, research design (quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods), sampling strategies, data collection techniques, basic statistical approaches, scientific writing, and the publication process. In addition, research and publication ethics, ethical principles in human and animal research, ethics committee procedures, plagiarism, data integrity, conflict of interest, and responsible research practices are discussed.
