Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to identify problems caused by gases, dust, and noise that occur during mining operations, which negatively affect the working environment and reduce productivity, and to investigate possible solutions to these problems.

Course Content

The characteristics and effects of gases that may be encountered in underground mines, the preventive measures to be taken, and approaches for improving the working environment, as well as gas measurement methods; dust control in mines, including dust formation and sources of dust, factors affecting dust concentration, dust measurement techniques, and dust control methods; noise control in mines, noise levels of various underground machinery (loaders and different types and specifications of drilling machines), noise levels of various types of surface mining equipment (drilling machines, bulldozers, haul trucks, various types of excavators, loaders, scrapers, and graders), and noise control in both underground and surface mining operations.
