Course Goal / Objective

The aim is to enable students to critically examine the processes of identity construction on digital platforms, data-driven forms of representation, and the new hierarchies created by these processes. The course aims to reinterpret classical theories of representation within the context of digitalisation (artificial intelligence, algorithms, social media).

Course Content

This course examines how the concept of identity becomes fluid in digital media, how it is algorithmically constructed, and how it is linked to power relations (gender, class, ethnicity).
