Course Goal / Objective
The aim of this course is to train nurses who can holistically assess the physiological, psychosocial, and developmental needs of children with health problems, and who can plan, implement, and evaluate evidence-based nursing care for children and their families. It also aims to develop students' skills in monitoring and interpreting current research in the field of child health and planning new research projects.
Course Content
This course covers the following topics: assessment of children with health problems, the impact of illness on growth and development, the effects of hospitalization on the child and family, psychosocial support for the child and family, nursing approaches to common childhood illnesses, approach to at-risk newborns, infectious diseases, congenital and genetic diseases, chronic disease management, child and family education, discharge planning, home care services, and current research in child health.
