Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to train specialist nurses who can plan, implement, and evaluate evidence-based, holistic, and family-centered nursing care for children and their families in common acute, chronic, and life-threatening diseases in the field of child health and diseases, and who have developed advanced clinical decision-making skills. Furthermore, it aims to enable students to analyze pediatric care practices in line with current literature and to translate them into clinical practice.

Course Content

This course covers the following topics: the concepts of child, illness, and hospital; children with chronic illnesses; life-threatening diseases; genetic diseases; nursing care practices in respiratory, circulatory, hematological, oncological, neurological, endocrine, urinary, gastrointestinal, and musculoskeletal diseases; education for children and families; clinical decision-making processes; care planning; prevention of complications; discharge planning; and an interdisciplinary approach.
