Course Goal / Objective
The objective of this course is to ensure that students understand the historical development of public health nursing, its fundamental concepts, philosophy, social determinants of health, preventive health services, the assessment of community and family health, and the roles and responsibilities of a public health nurse.
Course Content
This course covers the historical development of public health nursing, fundamental concepts in public health, the concept of health and illness, social determinants of health, preventive health services, primary health care, the roles and functions of public health nurses, assessment of families and communities, an introduction to epidemiology, and community-based care approaches.
