Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to analyse buildings and spaces classified as cultural heritage from the perspective of interior design and to develop design skills for their adaptive reuse. The objective is for students to be able to produce contemporary interior design solutions whilst taking historical and cultural factors into account.

Course Content

The concept of cultural heritage; the characteristics of historical buildings and interiors; approaches to conservation, reuse and adaptive reuse; spatial identity and memory; interior organisation and user experience; circulation and access planning; the reinterpretation of historical spaces through contemporary functions. Analysis and design exercises are carried out using case studies selected for the course.

Course Precondition

There are no prerequisites for this course.
