Course Goal / Objective

The objective of this course is to ensure that students learn the basic concepts, principles, and criteria of epidemiology, the evaluation of health events at the population level, and the fundamental characteristics of epidemiological research methods. By the end of the course, students are expected to understand the epidemiological approach and acquire basic knowledge of research planning.

Course Content

This course covers the definition of epidemiology, its historical development, areas of application, the epidemiological approach, health and disease indicators, incidence, prevalence, mortality, demographic indicators, classification of diseases and deaths, standardization, descriptive, analytical, and experimental research, and an introduction to epidemiological research planning.
