Course Goal / Objective
The objective of this course is to enable students to apply epidemiological knowledge to specific health issues, evaluate infectious and chronic diseases from an epidemiological perspective, understand surveillance and infection control, and develop data interpretation and reporting skills by preparing a small-scale epidemiological research plan.
Course Content
This course covers the epidemiology of infectious diseases, the chain of transmission, prevention and immunization, surveillance, outbreak investigation, the epidemiology of chronic diseases, interpretation of morbidity and mortality data, hospital-acquired infections, infection control, the role of the infection control nurse, epidemiological data collection, formulating research questions, preparing a small-scale research plan, reporting, and presentation.
