Course Goal / Objective

The objective of this course is to ensure that students understand the concepts of health promotion and protection, their historical development, fundamental principles and strategies, determinants of health, health behaviors, health inequities, and the basic individual- and community-based models and theories used in health promotion.

Course Content

This course covers the concepts of health, health promotion, health development, and health education; the relationship between disease, health, environment, and nursing; the social determinants of health; health behaviors and their determinants; health inequities; levels of health promotion; principles and strategies of health promotion; the nurse’s role in health promotion; individual health behavior models and theories; community-based models and theories; and studies and projects in the field of health promotion worldwide and in Türkiye.
