Course Goal / Objective
The aim of this course is to equip students with the ability to conduct a multidimensional analysis by integrating interior design with insights from interrelated disciplines such as sociology, psychology, anthropology, technology, and art. The course aims to help students develop the ability to translate interdisciplinary concepts into spatial parameters and to generate innovative design methodologies through collaborative work with experts from various fields.
Course Content
The concept of interdisciplinarity in design and its theoretical framework; the socio-cultural construction of space and its anthropological codes; the parametric use of behavioral science and psychological data in spatial perception; the adaptation of biological and ecological systems to space; the contribution of narrative arts such as literature, cinema, and theater to spatial composition; the synchronization of technology and engineering disciplines—such as lighting, acoustics, and structural engineering—with the core concept of design. As part of the course, students engage in interdisciplinary metaphor development and conceptual modeling exercises, transforming a concept selected from a non-design field into a spatial form.
Course Precondition
There are no prerequisites for this course.
