Course Goal / Objective
Neurobiophysics is an interdisciplinary field that examines the nervous system, the developmental processes of neurons, and the effects of neural networks on function from a biophysical perspective. The aim of this course is to understand the formation and differentiation of neurons, neural activity, signal transmission, and underlying molecular mechanisms; to examine the contributions of different brain regions to cognitive and behavioral functions; and, in this context, to learn about related damage, its physiological consequences, as well as mechanisms of injury and repair. The objective of the course is to provide students with a foundation for the development of appropriate biotechnological products related to the nervous system and brain injuries by teaching the mechanisms of the nervous system, cognitive-behavioral processes, and associated pathological damage.

Neurons, their differentiation, and neural circuit formation; Fundamentals of neuronal information transmission I – biopotentials; Fundamentals of neuronal information transmission II – synaptic transmission and neurotransmitters; The brain and its functional regions; Modulation of neurons and synaptic connections; Mechanisms of nervous system injury and repair; Pain and mechanisms of pain; Neurophysiology of epilepsy; Neurophysiology of sleep; Neurophysiology of schizophrenia; Learning and memory: neurophysiology of Alzheimer’s disease; Neurophysiology of autism and anxiety; Role of technology in the treatment of nervous system injuries – current approaches.
