Course Goal / Objective

To introduce the fundamental concepts, classifications, and approaches to character and values ​​education, and to understand their importance.

Course Content

Conceptual framework: Character, personality/character, values, virtues, morals, temperament, disposition, etc.  Character development and education; family, environment, and school in character development and education  Definition and classification of values  Sources of values ​​and their individual, social, cultural, religious, and moral foundations  Approaches and practices in character and values ​​education  Intercultural differentiation and the culture of coexistence in character and values ​​education  Character and values ​​education from the perspective of educational philosophy and goals  Teaching methods and techniques in character/values ​​education  Values ​​crisis and education in modern and multicultural societies; values ​​education in the human-cultural development process  Examples of values ​​education from Turkish education and cultural history, values ​​education practices and research in Turkey  The teacher as a role model in character and values ​​education
