Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to familiarize students with early childhood education policies in Turkey and around the world, to examine and compare their implementations, to relate them to the teaching profession, and to identify different early childhood programs.

Course Content

In this context, the course content includes identifying early childhood policies in Turkey and around the world and examining their implementations; shaping prospective teachers’ professional perceptions and understanding within the context of early childhood policies; developing an understanding of topics related to early childhood policies; explaining the scope and importance of early childhood services; making comparisons regarding the development, objectives, and scope of different early childhood programs; and examining national and international examples of topics falling under early childhood education policy. Early childhood education policies are examined as approaches aimed at social welfare that encompass education, health, and care services to support the development of children aged 0–8. These policies include practices such as family participation, the child’s active participation, play-based learning, and the expansion of access to early childhood education.
