Course Goal / Objective

The aim of the course is to examine the scarcity of natural resources, their management, and their interaction with the economic system within a theoretical framework. The course aims to equip students with the skills to analyze environmental issues from an economic perspective and to evaluate "Green Transition" processes, circular economy models, and sustainable development policies.

Course Content

Introduction to the Economics of Natural Resources, Debates on Scarcity and Growth, Management of Non-Renewable Resources and the Hotelling Rule, Optimal Use of Renewable Resources (Forests, Water, Fisheries) Optimal Use, Common-Pool Resources and the Tragedy of the Commons, Environmental Externalities and Pigouvian Taxes, Green Economy and Green Growth Concepts, Circular Economy and Waste Management, Climate Change Economics and Carbon Markets, Green Finance and Sustainable Investments, Energy Transition, International Environmental Agreements and Policy Analysis.
