Course Goal / Objective

The aim of this course is to enable students to analyze energy supply and demand dynamics within the scope of energy economics by using the fundamentals of microeconomics and macroeconomics, to conduct economic and financial evaluations of energy investments, and to develop the ability to interpret energy markets and policies in order to design sustainable and effective strategies.

Course Content

The content of this course involves covering the fundamental concepts of economics and the basic principles of microeconomics and macroeconomics, providing a theoretical foundation for energy economics. It examines energy sector supply and demand dynamics, economic equilibrium, cost structures, and the relationship between economic growth and energy from both historical and contemporary perspectives. The course focuses on the economic and financial analysis of energy projects and the evaluation of energy investments. In addition, the global, regional, and local energy situation, the structure of energy markets, supply-demand balance, and energy indicators are analyzed. Regulations in energy markets, liberalization processes, and competitive structures are also evaluated. Energy policies, policy criteria, and their implementation are discussed. Furthermore, energy projections, future energy scenarios, and the functioning of global energy markets are examined, and methods for analyzing and modeling energy policies are taught.
