Course Goal / Objective
The general purpose of this course is to enable students to use and apply the knowledge, skills and attitudes they have acquired from Counseling Principles and Techniques and Group Counseling courses in a real group environment and to gain experience. In addition, to observe the group process and group management as a group member.
Course Content
In this course, after the information about group counseling gained in lesson Group Counseling is generally reviewed, students are asked to be a members of a real group. Students are expected to use their helping skills for both their own and the others personal and professional development. The content of this course covers these topics: General revision Group Counseling. Application of basic group counseling skills. Reviewing basic group counseling techniques. Expressing type of the group to be held (Give information about Encounter Groups). Inititating group process (about 12 sessions) by the group leader. Session 1: Get ıntroduced with group members. Introduction of the group and the purposes of group. Session 2: Reviewing of the previous sesssion. Facilitating the group communication. Group functioning. Terminating the session. Session 12: Evaluation of the group process. Members evaluation of their own group experience, levels of group participation and what they acquired from the group. Leaders evaluation of group process and group members.
