Course Goal / Objective
The goal is to use the botanical garden as a living laboratory to enable students to identify plant diversity, conduct hands-on studies of plants of medicinal and economic importance, and acquire interdisciplinary knowledge and skills in plant identification, cultivation, and sustainable use.
Course Content
Using the botanical garden as a living education and research laboratory; plant diversity and collection management; identification of plants of medicinal, aromatic, and economic importance in their natural habitats; examination of the morphological and taxonomic characteristics of plants; plant identification methods; herbarium techniques; plant cultivation, care, and propagation practices; ecological and phenological observations; sustainable plant conservation and biodiversity; the parts of medicinal plants used for medicinal purposes, and the relationship between active compounds and plant development; educational, research, and public awareness initiatives in botanical gardens; applied fieldwork, plant identification, and student project presentations.
