Course Goal / Objective
The objective of this course is to teach the basic logic and working principles of chromatographic separation techniques, which are of critical importance in many areas of daily and professional life such as forensics, food safety, the pharmaceutical industry, environmental analysis, and doping tests, at a popular science level. The course aims to provide students with general scientific literacy and a vision toward analytical techniques through real-life application examples, free from complex formulas.
Course Content
This course covers the basic logic of chromatographic separation methods and the working principles of Gas Chromatography (GC) and Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). Without diving into complex formulas, the practical significance of chromatography is examined at a popular science level through real-world applications in forensics, food safety (adulteration detection), doping control, and the pharmaceutical industry.
