General Information

Çukurova University Institute of Health Sciences, Histology and Embryology PhD program; Graduates of the Institute of Health Sciences Histology and Embryology Master's Program, graduates of the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Faculty of Dentistry, and candidates found suitable by the academic committee of the Department are accepted. The first two years of the program cover advanced theoretical and laboratory practices in the field of Histology and Embryology. At the end of these trainings, the student's knowledge of the program is measured with a doctoral proficiency exam. Students who are successful as a result of this exam, do their doctoral thesis in the remaining two years of their education, and those who are successful in the thesis defense exam receive the title of "Doctor of Science in Histology and Embryology".

In Cukurova University Institute of Health Sciences, Histology and Embryology PhD program, students gain the necessary knowledge and skills at the doctoral level, carry out to project related to the field as an individual or as a team member, present the current developments in his/her field and his/ her studies orally and in writing. Also train scientists who are able to identify their needs and resources and pay attention to ethical rules in their studies. In this context, advanced knowledge and skills training is given to doctoral students in the fields of microscopic structures of cells, tissues and organs, their functional relations, human development and assisted reproductive techniques, cell culture, histochemistry and immunohistochemistry.

Goals

The aim of Cukurova University, Institute of Health Sciences, PhD Program in Histology and Embryology, is to educate scientists who are equipped with knowledge, attitudes and skills and who give importance to ethical values, in accordance with the universal science criteria in the field of research area.

Objectives

Çukurova University Institute of Health Sciences, Histology and Embryology Ph.D. program aims to educate scientists who are capable of following current scientific developments, have the ability to reach information and who can take part in research planning. In this direction, the graduates of the program; In addition to being employed as an instructor in universities, he/she will be able to work in the reproductive laboratories (embryology, andrology) within the framework of legal rules in stem cell and cellular treatment centers.

Specific Admission Requirements

To apply for a doctoral program; Candidates are required to graduate from the fields specified in the advertisement. Applicants with a master's degree are required to have at least 55 points from ALES in the score type of the program they are applying for. If applying to a doctorate program with a bachelor's degree, the diploma grade point average must be at least 3.00 in the 4-point system, or at least 80 standard points from ALES with an equivalent grade point average. The interview grade is given over 100 full marks. Scientific achievement level of a candidate; It is the sum of 50% of the ALES score, 10% of the undergraduate grade point average, 10% of the graduate grade point average, 5% of the foreign language and 25% of the interview grade. For applicants with a bachelor's degree, it is the sum of 50% of the ALES standard score, 20% of the graduation grade point average, 25% of the average of the written exam/interview result and 5% of the foreign language score. Candidates with a PhD entrance score of 70 or more are admitted to the doctoral programs in the order of points, within the framework of the quota.

Qualification Requirements of Graduation

The doctoral program consists of at least seven credit courses, with a total of at least twenty-one credits and not less than 60 ECTS in one academic term (total of fall and spring semesters); consists of seminar course, specialization courses, proficiency exam, thesis proposal and thesis work and cannot be less than 240 ECTS credits. The maximum number of courses that can be taken in the doctoral program is ten.

Doctoral education is given practically in light and electron microscopy laboratories, immunohistochemistry laboratory, immunofluorescence laboratory and cell culture laboratory.

Employment Opportunities

Students who successfully complete their doctorate education can work in assisted reproductive therapy laboratories (embryology, andrology), stem cell and cellular therapy centers within the framework of legal rules, as well as being employed as lecturers at universities.
