Feature & Definition

Within this program, there are 1 theater stage, 1 workshop stage, 2 studios, 1 singing studio, 1 decor making workshop, 1 accessory and costume rooms available to students. Our students studying in our program can work in these areas in the presence of their consultants for the stage and the stage. As a result of these studies, every year in April of the academic year, Bachelor IV. A graduation play prepared by our grade students is meeting with the audience. Our graduation game has participated in various festivals and competitions and has achieved various degrees.

Goals

This programe aims to convey the techniques and methods of Theatre-Acting to the students considering the requirements of the age, and train undergraduates as artists who can speak Turkish accurately and effectively with the diction rules required by the profession, know about their own body, feelings and thoguhts, and can use their body on stage as if it is an instrument, adopted an aesthetic point of view, can synthesize the knowledge they have acquired considering the requirements of the age, have a critical point of view and art ethics and professional discipline, aware of the responsibility to themselves, their own country and humanity, consider the social and moral values of the society, competent in terms of the profession, and inquisitive, innovative, creative and participative.

Objectives

Our goal as an acting undergraduate program; to train graduates who are preferred nationally and internationally; to contribute to the art life of our country with our graduates and artistic works.

Specific Admission Requirements

(1) General Admission Requirements: The general requirements for students to be admitted to the Music and Performing Arts Departments are as follows: a) Health status (physically and spiritually) to comply with the criteria required for the relevant Art / Art branch. b) Not having been cut off from any public or private school with a disciplinary offence. c) To graduate from the relevant Main Art / Art branches of the Music and Performing Arts High Schools of the State Conservatories or to be a high school graduate or equivalent. d) For candidates who graduated from a high school other than State Conservatory Music and Performing Arts High Schools, to have a score of at least 150 points or more from one of the TYT score types of the year to which the application will be made. e) In order to apply for the Department of Performing Arts (Acting Major) admission exams; have the skills required for the branch and be a maximum of 25 years old. f) For foreign national candidates; To have the conditions specified in the International Student Admission and Registration Directive for Cukurova University Associate and Undergraduate Programs. g) To complete the pre-registration procedures completely and correctly within the period announced by the Rector's Office and submit it to the relevant unit. h) To take the admission exams on the day, place and time announced by the Rectorate and to be successful in these exams. (2) The entrance exams for the Performing Arts Department (Acting) consist of three stages: “Pre-selection Exam”, “Barrage Exam” and “Final Acceptance Exam”: a) Pre-selection Exam (1st Stage Exam): Candidates who have completed their pre-registration at the application date attend the Pre-selection Exam. Candidates who are successful in this exam are entitled to take the Barrage Exam. b) Barrage Exam (Stage 2): Candidates who are successful in the Pre-selection Exam are taken to the Barrage Exam. Candidates who are successful in this exam are entitled to take the final admission exam. c) Final Acceptance Exam (3rd Stage Exam): Candidates who are successful in the Barrage Exam are taken to the Final Acceptance Exam. Candidates who are successful in the Final Acceptance Exam are entitled to register. d) In the Performing Arts Department, the passing grade in the Pre-selection, Barrage and Final Acceptance Exams is 70 (Seventy) points out of 100 (One Hundred). The "Special Talent Score" of the candidates who are successful in all exams is accepted as the score they got in the 3rd Stage Final Acceptance Exam. (3) The special conditions for the Acting Program Acceptance Exams are as follows: a) Candidates must prepare at least four free pieces, two of which are comedy and two of which are tragedy, and one poem. b) Candidates must present two of the free pieces they have prepared in the Pre-selection Exam to the Commission. c) Candidates must be successful in the General Culture, General Recognition, Voice-Ear, Rhythm-Dance, Movement exams to be held in the Barrage Exam and must present two pieces of the free pieces they have prepared that they have not submitted to the Commission. If the commission deems it necessary, it may give compulsory pieces to the candidates, improvise and collective work; in addition, it may request that the candidates be examined in ear-nose-throat-eye, orthopedics (general body) and psychological tests. d) In the Final Acceptance Exam, candidates must be successful in improvisations and in the interview.

Qualification Requirements of Graduation

They must be successful in all courses, practices and studies in the curriculum of the department or program they are registered to, and must have completed two hundred and forty (240) ECTS at the undergraduate level and have a GPA of at least 2.00.

Access to Further Studies

The graduates of this program are eligible to apply for admission to graduate studies in same field or related areas if they pass the evaluation process designated according to the regulations of “Çukurova University Graduate Education and Examination Committee”, which includes ALES, general point of average, and the interview.

Internship

There is no Internship Course in our program.

Applied Course

The courses in the conservatory consist of five different groups: main vocational courses, auxiliary vocational courses, culture courses, common compulsory courses and elective courses. The lessons that make up the groups are shown in the education program. All the main vocational courses of the acting program are applied courses. Apart from the Theory courses of auxiliary vocational courses (World Theater History, Play Review, Turkish Theater History), all auxiliary vocational courses are also carried out as practical courses. Applied Courses are conducted in the studio and/or application areas of the relevant course. (1) The main vocational courses taught in the conservatory in each academic year are considered to be complementary to the previous year and prerequisite courses related to that year's education. For this reason, the class passing system is applied, not the passing the course. (2) Students who fail any of the main vocational courses and/or more than two auxiliary vocational courses in all classes of the conservatory repeat the year. Students who repeat a grade cannot take courses from the upper class. (3) Exams, basic vocational courses, auxiliary vocational courses, culture courses and common compulsory courses, make-up courses and practice studies (rehearsals) can also be held on Saturdays. Attendance requirement in applied courses: (1) Attendance to classes and practices is mandatory. A student who does not attend more than twenty percent of the main profession courses, thirty percent of the auxiliary profession, culture and common compulsory courses will not be taken to the exam for that course. The list of those who are not entitled to take the exam due to absenteeism is announced one week before the exam period. (2) Except for the main vocational courses and applied auxiliary vocational courses, if the attendance requirement has been fulfilled in the previous semester, the attendance requirement is not sought, provided that the exam is taken.

Work Placement

There is no Workplace Training application in our program.

Double Major, Additional Major & Exchange Possibilities

Students enrolled in the program can participate in International or National exchange programs with Universities accepted by the Higher Education Institution in other classes, except for the 1st year.

Employment Opportunities

Graduated students can work as actors at State Theatres, City Theatres or special theatres. Although the purpose of this program is to provide education to train undergraduates as theatre players, those who graduate from this program also have a great opportunity to be successful in cinema and television.
