Course Goal / Objective
To teach basic concepts of rehabilitation engineering.
Course Content
Introduction, definition and concepts of Rehabilitation Engineering. Threapautic and assistive technology devices. Clinical applications of rehabilitation engineering. Universal design principles. Technology transfer methods , standards. Seating biomechanics and systems. Tissue integrity management. Wheelchairs. Functional electrical stimulation. Disabled transport and transport safety. Rehabilitation robotics. Main extremity prosthetic devices. Orthotic devices. Assistive technology for the visually impaired. Assistive technology for the hearing impaired.
