Course Goal

The aim of the course is to enable students to have information about preschool science and math education and contemporary research.

Course Content

Importance of mathematics education in early childhood education. Cognitive development and concept learning in children. Planning math activities in early childhood period. Issues of preschool mathematics: Classification, one to one corresponding, comparing, ordering, numbers, operation, measuring, geometry, spatial perception, graphics. Importance of science education in early childhood education, scientific process skills, Preschool science methods: experiment, analogy, concept maps, project, drama. Contemporary research in early childhood math and science.
