Course Goal / Objective

To teach the dating techniques, application areas, and age determination methods.

Course Content

Introduction to dating, Origin and historical development of age determination applications, Advantages, disadvantages and limitations of dating techniques, Sample preparation methods in age determination applications, Radiocarbon, Potassium-Argon, Argon-Argon, Uranium-Thorium, ESR, TL, OSL, Fission track dating techniques, Error calculations in age determination studies
