Course Goal / Objective
Course that includes constituting the theoretical background of health communication, aims to give information about theories and models in the field of health communication, methods and tools used in carrying out activities, the using of health communication in media and representations created, the importance of interpersonal communication in health communication and aims to scrutinise the transformation of health into consumption object within the frame of health and wellness culture and evaluate from the health communication perspective, gain critical thinking about health communication issues.
Course Content
In this course, the development of health communication discipline, fields of activity, theoretical definitions of health and health communication concepts, improving the health in the frame of health communication and health education, theories and models of health communication, campaign process in health communication, health communication and social marketing, health communication and media advocacy, health communication and public relations, risk and crisis communication in health communication, public health information and media, sources of public health information, public health information and clash of media priorities, health literacy, international documents on health protection and improvement, health communication and ethic, interpersonal communication in health communication, health as a field of neoliberalism, transformation of health into consumption object and wellness culture, presentation of health in media and the role of media and neoliberal actors in the transformation of health into consumption object.
